Yunnan tea plant and tea processing scientific observation and test station of the ministry of agriculture was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and was built in March 2014. It is made based on the original tea garden relying on the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of tea science and education, Yunnan tea deep processing engineering technology research center, and Pu’er Tea College of Yunnan Agricultural University.
The experimental station has purchased observation instruments and equipment and agricultural machines and tools totaling more than 3 million yuan, including imported observation instruments and equipment totaling more than 2.3 million yuan. There are 20 sets of automatic measuring instruments for soil moisture, plant physiological flux, centrifuge, and plant physiological flux, and 20 groups of automated measuring instruments for soil moisture, time-domain reflectance, and time-domain monitoring system for plant transpiration; Equipped with five sets of agricultural machines and tools, including tractors, harvesters, agricultural pickup trucks, etc.
The experimental station mainly conducts long-term positioning observation on the genetic diversity, stability, adaptability, preservation safety, and environmental and ecological elements of tea germplasm resources in Yunnan. The experimental station is committed to collecting and preserving wild tea germplasm resources and, studying their biological characteristics and distinct components; Developing the relevant technical system of cutting preservation and propagation of wild tea; Making use of the local rich tea germplasm resources to innovate the germplasm of Yunnan large-leaf species; At the same time, according to the characteristics of existing resources and varieties, carry out artificial hybridization and select characteristic strains; The mutant library of Yunnan large-leaf species was established. It lays a scientific theoretical foundation for establishing a base for safe reproduction and preservation of germplasm resources, screening, evaluation, creation, and utilization of excellent germplasm.
