Department of chemistry (DC) of CS has 35 faculty, including six professors, eight associate professors, one senior experimenter, 15 lecturers, four experimenters, and one assistant experimenter. Twenty-two has doctoral degrees, and 8 have master’s degrees. In addition, DC offers introductory public courses such as “General Chemistry,” “General Chemistry Experiment,” “Organic Chemistry,” “Organic Chemistry Experiment,” “Quantitative Analytical Chemistry,” and “Quantitative Analytical Chemistry Experiment” for more than 2,000 undergraduate students.
Since DC established the Applied Chemistry major in 2006, there are currently three majors: applied chemistry, chemical biology, and biological engineering. DC has always adhered to strengthening the foundation, building platforms, conducting scientific research, promoting teaching, and improving teaching quality and has made significant progress. DC has established laboratories for inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, instrumental analytical chemistry, food chemical analysis, and environmental monitoring, with more than 2,000 square meters. In addition, the Department of Chemistry has a variety of professional equipment, including atomic absorption spectrometers, gas chromatographs, ultraviolet spectrometers, and other large-scale instruments, with a total value of more than two million yuan which can better meet the needs of teaching and some scientific research.
